RELEASES NEW SINGLE
THE L.A.-MEETS-NASHVILLE COUNTRY ROCKER
‘DEAD AND GONE’
FULL ALBUM DUE OUT LATER IN 2023 VIA SNAKEFARM IN THE UK & IRELAND / BLUE ÉLAN REST OF WORLD
SHIFLETT JUST ANNOUNCED FOR AMERICANAFEST IN NASHVILLE
Hot off the heels of a triumphant sold-out UK headline tour last month, Chris Shiflett has released the new single ‘Dead And Gone’, which written back in spring 2020 during a time of reflection, is an ode to his hometown and some of the friends and characters that have influenced him along the way.
“My hometown was an odd mix of luxury paradise and working-class grit and continues to be a bottomless pit of lyrical inspiration,” says Shiflett.
The song itself is a groove laden, two-steppin’ fuzz-fuelled mix of rock’n’roll with a classic country twist. The sweet dobro playing of Charlie Worsham and the swampy tremolo guitar tones of Tom Bukovac sit sweetly behind Shiflett’s slick guitar lines and chicken pickin’ solo.
‘Dead And Gone’ is the first song he tracked with producer Jaren Johnston (The Cadillac Three) and is the second taste of music from a brand new album due out later in 2023.
The album will be released via Snakefarm / Universal in the UK & Ireland, and elsewhere via Blue Élan Records, the Los Angeles-based independent label.
Fans will hear more about the JarenJohnston-produced LP in the coming months but can count on hearing an album that represents Shiflett’s fully-realised vision of connecting L.A. to Nashville. “A big part of my inspiration to work with Jaren on this record was because I knew he’d push me out of my comfort zone into new territory,” Shiflett says.
Fans can also check out the first track from the upcoming album, ‘Black Top White Lines’, at this link.
In addition to the release of ‘Dead And Gone’, Shiflett was just announced as part of the AMERICANAFEST 2023 line-up. The long-running event takes place in Nashville on September 19-23. More information can be found at americanamusic.org.
